Settings

Settings is the small page that holds who you are to DevThrottle and what DevThrottle sends you: the email address you signed in with, the name it calls you, which emails leave, and whether you share product usage data. It is the page to open when the emails are not the ones you want.

Your account

Three facts sit at the top and are not editable here: the email you signed in with, your role, and your account's status. The email is your identity - devices, keys and your subscription all hang off it.

Nickname

Pick a nickname and DevThrottle calls you that instead of your real name - when the assistant talks to you, and anywhere you choose to be public. Leave it blank and it uses the name you signed up with; Clear puts you back there at any time.

A nickname is 2 to 30 characters and may use letters, numbers, spaces, hyphens and underscores. It also has to be one nobody else has taken - if it is, saving tells you so and asks for another.

Email

Three kinds of email leave DevThrottle and they are separate on purpose. Turning off one does not turn off the others.

• Account and security - password resets, sign-in alerts, receipts and failed payments. This one has no switch and is shown anyway, so you can see it is separate: switching it off is how people lose access to an account without being told.
• Product notifications - your daily report and messages about your own sessions. Nothing promotional.
• News and tips - what DevThrottle can do, what has shipped, and the occasional note while you are getting started. This is the same switch as the unsubscribe link at the bottom of those emails, so using either one is enough.

Each switch saves as you flip it, and what the page shows afterwards is what was stored - if a change does not save, the switch goes back where it was rather than showing you something that is not true.

Product usage data

One switch, on by default, that you can turn off at any time. What it does today is narrower than its name suggests, and it is worth saying plainly: it records your preference, and nothing currently collects anything on the strength of it. The usage-telemetry program it was built for was removed in July 2026 and nothing replaced it. Leave it on and no extra data is gathered; turn it off and none stops, because there is none.

What IS recorded, with no switch over it, is your sign-in - see what leaves your machine, which also covers the session conversations your Director sends to your Gateway. Those are not governed by this control either. The switch is kept because the consent it expresses is real: if collection returns, this is what it will answer to.

This is your account's switch, and it is the only one. DevThrottle used to have a second, fleet-wide switch in the Cockpit; that went with the usage-telemetry program it belonged to, and nothing replaced it. What is recorded either way, and what your Director sends to your Gateway, is on what leaves your machine.
